Finance Manager.

Location: Canada (Remote)
Reports to: Finance Director
Salary Range: $60,000 – $80,000  (Canadian Dollars)
Position Type: Full-time.

As a Finance Manager with us, you will be responsible for confidently managing a portfolio of 4-6 clients, overseeing the seamless delivery of our Fiscally Way financial solution.  While each role in our organization is crucial in delivering a well-resourced accounting department, the Finance Manager is the anchor, instilling confidence among clients, direct reports, and senior management. You’ll streamline accounting workflows, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.  For our clients, accuracy and timeliness are priorities. You’ll thoroughly understand client contracts to align accounting practices accordingly, preparing comprehensive reports and leading finance meetings.

Responsibilities

  1. Revenue Recognition and Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and analyze Monthly WIP  reports monthly by integrating data from various databases.
    • Conduct risk assessment on margin reports, identifying discrepancies and opportunities.
    • Lead monthly Margin meetings with Business Leads to verify financial data accuracy.
    • Calculate and record revenue recognition entries based on project completion assessments.
    • Reconcile project subledger balances with general ledger post-revenue recognition.
  2. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Review P&L and Balance Sheet for accuracy, making necessary adjustments.
    • Ensure Balance Sheet schedules align with General Ledger.
    • Review and approve Bank and Credit Card reconciliations.
    • Develop and manage Management Reporting Schedules including revenue and efficiency analysis by client.
  3. Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cash Flow Management:
    • Collaborate with your Finance Director to develop annual budgets and reforecasts.
    • Identify risks and opportunities in budget variance and articulate findings to your Finance Director.
    • Conduct cash flow forecasting and management.
  4. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Manage and mentor assigned finance team members including a General Accountant and Client Accounting Manager
    • Oversee team performance and development.
  5. Other Projects As Assigned:
    • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis projects as required.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in systems and processes.
    • Collaborate with external advisors on behalf of clients (e.g., tax accountants, HR consultants).

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Business with a focus on accounting
  • 3-5 years experience, preferably in an environment where you are used to managing multiple clients at once
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business acumen as it relates to strategy, operations, marketing and accounting given Fiscally’s positioning as experts in the financial management of professional services firms
  • Some experience with cloud-based accounting solutions an asset but not required
  • Strong organizational skills, proactive communicator, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines  are essential for success in this role
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities both in person and remotely
  • This role requires hands-on experience in revenue recognition, financial reporting, budgeting, and team management within the finance function.
